Abstract

Intelligent conversational chatbot systems have become an essential component of modern digital communication, enabling automated, human-like interaction between users and machines across various domains such as customer service, healthcare, education, and e-commerce. With advancements in Natural Language Understanding (NLU), chatbots have evolved from simple rule-based systems to highly sophisticated AI-driven conversational agents capable of understanding context, intent, sentiment, and user behavior. This study explores intelligent chatbot systems powered by advanced NLU techniques, including transformer-based models, deep learning architectures, and contextual language modeling. The integration of technologies such as Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT), Generative Pre-trained Transformers (GPT), and sequence-to-sequence models has significantly improved the ability of chatbots to generate accurate, context-aware responses. The research also examines dialogue management systems, intent classification, entity recognition, and response generation techniques used in modern conversational agents. Furthermore, cloud computing and big data technologies enhance scalability, real-time processing, and multi-platform deployment of chatbot systems. The study highlights challenges such as ambiguity in natural language, bias in training data, privacy concerns, and computational complexity. The findings indicate that advanced NLU-based chatbot systems significantly improve user engagement, operational efficiency, and service automation across industries, making them a key technology in human-computer interaction.
